CEO Fibank

Nikola Bakalov is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board of First Investment Bank (Fibank). With extensive experience in the banking and insurance sectors, he began his career at Fibank in 2000, rising to Director of Card Payments and serving on the executive committees of Mastercard and VISA Bulgaria. His leadership background includes roles as Executive Director and CEO of Allianz Bank Bulgaria, and Executive Director of FiHealth Insurance. In 2020, he was appointed Chief Retail Banking Officer at Fibank before becoming CEO and Chairman later that year. His responsibilities encompass legal affairs, corporate communications, marketing, human capital, and asset management. Mr. Bakalov holds a Master’s in International Economic Relations from the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) and has specialized in corporate governance and retail financial services. He also serves on the boards of BORICA AD, the Association of Banks in Bulgaria, and the International Banking Institute.
